End of the year recap!

It’s the end of May and the school year is complete! And just like that G’s kindergarten year is over.  Next up 1st grade and Pre-K for E! I am so thankful to have these years to spend so much time with my children.  I would not change it for the world, truly.  Let’s recap!

We have memorized history sentences for the ten commandments, the seven wonders of the ancient world, the Pax Romana, the division of the Roman empire, Japans Heian period (G’s personal favorite), Emperor Constantine, the Kush, and Mound Builders of North America, to name a few.  We have identified 120 different places in Geography from the Fertile Crescent, Hebrew Empire, Egyptian Empire, Roman Empire, China, Japan, Middle East and South America and many more.  We have memorized the classifications of living things, the kingdoms of living things, major groups of invertebrates and vertebrates, parts of a plant and flower, the three kinds of rock and the four kinds of volcanoes, and the many types of clouds.  We have worked on learning 53 prepositions, 5 Latin noun declensions (E’s personal favorite) and skip counting our multiplication tables through 10.  We have memorized 3 poems and close to 26 scripture verses and have read more books and poetry then I can keep up with.  G’s handwriting is improving everyday, which can be oh so hard for boys!  G is reading compound words with short vowel sounds and soon will be reading words with long vowels sounds, as introduced in our phonics-intensive reading program.

Since early Spring we have enjoyed playing at the local spring after ice cream and library time.  Weekly we have learned and played hard at Forest School, the annual exposition is next week and G is presenting on caterpillars and butterflies.

I am so proud of all G has accomplished this year, but I am most proud of the kind, sweet, loving boy he continues to be and the faith he has in our Savior!

Look out for my next post in preparation for this upcoming school year!
